Mark Renaud

Mark Renaud has been Principal of St. Philip Catholic School since September of 2011. This is his 9th year as a Principal and he is in his 28th year with the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.

Most of his educational and athletic backgrounds stem from his hometown, Windsor Ontario. His degrees from the University of Windsor include: Honours Bachelor of Public Administration 1984, Bachelor of Education 1989, and Master of Education 1994. With a concentration on Curriculum Studies his major paper compared computer lab vs classroom setting’s within our board. From 1984-86 he played goal for the men’s varsity hockey team and had a one-time stint with the Detroit Red Wings 1986. In December of 2005, he received his Principal’s certificate through the Catholic Principals Council of Ontario.

Since 1989, Mark has had the opportunity to work in different schools and in various positions. He has been a classroom teacher for Grades 3-8 and a system wide Computer Itinerant Teacher for Grades JK-8. He has provided system wide support with web based reporting, implemented school wide initiatives such as the Hello Sydney Olympic Project 2000, and Student Wellness Project 2003.

In his current school, he has supported staff in the acquisition and direction of implementing technology with Chromebooks, piloting BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), and integrating Michael Fullan’s New Pedagogies for Deep Learning project.

Mark in his system wide committee role of 21st Century Learning is very familiar with the needs of the Digital Learner. Mark is able to use various forms of technology to communicate his thoughts with others and plans for in-services and allocates where it is needed. His current PLN will help to ensure that he meets the best needs of all learners and is focusing on:

·         creating a culture of collaboration
·         integrating technology with pedagogies for deep learning
·         proper use of social media for learning

Mark currently resides in the city of Sarnia with my wife Sherri and two daughters Alisha and Candice. His interests in extra-curricular activities involve hockey, soccer, and keeping fit.
